At The Ramen Bar

A couple of weeks ago, we tried out this new ramen place in Eastwood City called The Ramen Bar, and it was a great new experience for us.

We haven't been to this mall for the longest time, probably because its not within our usual stomping grounds. And I don't find any "pull" to bring me to this part of Quezon City when I feel like window shopping or eating out. Its such an effort to drive down Libis, which is oftentimes backed up with traffic in all directions.

But it was a good thing we made this trip, giving us a chance to check out what this mall had to offer, apart from the new dining places we've heard that opened up here recently. And the Ramen Bar is one of these new places.

We found Ramen Bar easily, as it was located at the ground floor of the mall, facing the new condos. The place looked clean and comfortable, something that's conducive to eating, of course.

The items we ordered were the Shoyu Ramen, which contained hearty soup topped with beef meat and various veggies. I ordered Spicy Karaage Ramen, made with the same rich soup broth but topped with chicken and just little more spicy than the usual. We also got fried chicken (Karaage) for the eldest daughter and Chasyu, which grilled pork belly, topped with rice. As appetizer, we ordered Kakuni Buns, a siopao kind of sandwich with a beef filling. Really tasty!

The ramen, as advertised, were pretty good! The spicy broth of my Spicy Karaage Ramen was just right, although after a few minutes, I could feel my mouth getting numbed out. The servings were pretty big, so I'm sure light eaters can share a bowl, giving everyone a chance to try many varieties of ramen. For those with big appetites, it won't be difficult to finish one big bowl.

This is what my wife and I did a week later, when we returned for dinner and shared the Spicy Karaage Ramen. We tried something new, the crunchy shrimp on Kakuni Buns and it was flavorful, a great counterpoint to the spicy ramen soup.

For dessert, we ordered Tempura Ice Cream, a novel combo of ice cream wrapped in batter! You have to try it to believe it! And you'll find it quite agreeable!

Its great to find eating places like the Ramen Bar because its like comfort food, yet with quality still a notch higher than the usual Japanese restos. Its a simple operation, yet you can see just how much effort goes into each bowl of ramen, quite a complex noodle soup if you ask me!

We've made this one of our favorite places to go to, and a huge, huge reason for us to make the trip to Eastwood, because at this point, I still can't find any spiritual connection to that mall.
