Toast Box Treat

We were at Trinoma Mall last Sunday and managed to sample one of the things I missed most about Singapore: Toast Box!

Located inside the Bread Talk store at the ground level, I was excited to get my Kopi fix at Toast Box, along with reminiscing about my recent Singapore trip. Its location is perfect coz while the kids went to Fully Booked next door, I had enough time to relish my kopi and kaya toast!

I was telling my wife and kids that the Toast Box here looks similar to the one I went to in Singapore: the white chairs and tables, white-washed counter with a view of the preparation area, utensils and a huge mound of butter!

I ordered the simple Kopi and kaya toast combination but not the set menu that came with soft-boiled eggs. I still can't imagine downing those along with the toast!

At the first taste of the kopi, I was disappointed that it didn't taste quite the same, a bit bland. Turns out I never got to mix the kopi with condensed milk. By the time I realized this, the cup was down to its last 1/4th! So I had to just drink up all the condensed milk that settled at the bottom. Yeah, I'm so dumb.

The kaya toast tasted the same, of course, despite the bread getting a wee bit over-toasted. Maybe the toaster oven wasn't quite the same as the one they used in Singapore. Nevertheless, you get what you expect of a Toast Box branch: the same kopi goodness and the same great kaya taste!

Oh, I will be back for more!
